It may be still cold and windy outside but the Spring collections have hit the malls! For the savy teen shopper, here is a list of the hottest trends for 2009 compiled by our teen board members. Lots of new styles, looks fabrics and fashion to choose from…

DRESSES
- Heavy embellished hems.
- Asymmetric off the one shoulder styles
- Strapless fairy prom skirts/dresses
- Maxi dresses
- 60′s inspired A-line dresses
- Draping – Grecian style, focus on waist or side of dress

SHOULDERS & SLEEVES
- Sleeves are back: puff, capped, 80′s batwing draped.
- Kimono sleeves, arm warmers, chiffon sleeves
- Softened shoulder line, one shoulder looks and halter collier lines

YELLOW & GOLDEN
- In a color class of its own: yellow, golden buttercup, citrus, lemongrass, burnished bronze and copper and all with metallic shine
- Find it on apparrel, accessories and more

TRIBAL IS BACK
- Amer-Afro transcontinental tribal references in pattern, print and fabrics
- Animal prints of all sorts
- Fringe on bags,  boots, sandals and garments.
- African inspired jewelry and accessories.

JUMPSUITS
- Carrot and peg top trousers/jump suits.
- Above knee playsuits
- 70′s retro
- Makes a great subsitute for the dress

NEW COLORS
- Popping electric brights
- Lots of greens, blues and purples as defined as cardamom green, citron green, vibrant green, jade aqua, santorini blue and royal lapis.
- New prime colors of lemon yellows, tangerine, orange and antique gold
- Interplay of the monochromes with slate grey, black, navy, cream and white.

GOING SHEER
- sheer fabrics add a touch of elegance
- used in combination with other fabrics to create mystery.

DENIM
- Going reto again.
- Distressed looks with acid and stonewashing, ripping and fraying.
- Complete mix of styles: skinnies, baggies, boot cut, dark denim and pale denim.

BELTS
- Wider the better
- Large embellished buckles

TANNING
- Tanning is out!
- Mahogany and orange glow tans are OUT.
- Clean, healthy natural skin is IN.

TROUSERS
- Harem dhoti carrot peg top style trousers with skinny ankles.
- Wide leg pants and boot cut jeans

NAUTICAL IS BACK
- Red, white and blue combinations.
- Reinvented cruise wear.

- Huge necklaces
- Big costume jewellery
- Retro and real vintage gem looks

NEW PRINTS
- Watercolours are in.
- Garden floral prints.

- Ornate and trophey jackets
