I hate it when my roots get greasy and then the rest of my hair is a frizzy, dried up mess. I used to wash just the top front of my hair to get rid of the grease, but that’s not good because ideally you want the natural oils to travel down the length of your hair to keep your curls shiny and healthy. And I work out and perspiration, excessive or not, can make greasy hair more pronounced.

Even if you haven’t heard of Mat Kearney you’ve most likely heard Mat Kearney. Songs from his first album, Nothing Left to Lose including the album’s title track have been played on your favorite TV shows. Listen to it here; you know it, right?? We love that song too and we’re loving his newest album, City of Black & White even more!

Neha and I went to see him perform this week. He’s touring all over the country with Keane this summer so you can see him too- no need to be a Seventeen editor to enjoy a live show and meet a great artist. I totally recommend checking him out. He puts on a great show and Closer to Love is bound to be one of your favorite summer ’09 songs.

Always the fashion editor at heart, I was of course impressed with his adorable style. I got him to take some pics backstage because I wanted to show you guys!

Every month we get about 3 dozen racks of clothing into the Fashion Closet at Seventeen. That’s A LOT of clothes! Out of all those clothes it was a Generation Love studded tee that all the fashion editors, stylists and even our Creative Director fell in love with. Jasmine, our Fashion Assistant is wearing it here.

The tee is made of super soft organic cotton, it’s the perfect V-neck, and is embellished with gold studs for just a little added edge to your basic tee.

We sent the tees out to a Seventeen cover shoot and the celeb (can’t say who yet!) ended up buying one herself!

Half Up/Half Down
– Before you blow-dry, use Build It and a large-size round brush with horizontal sections.
– Use a large-size curling iron and finish with a drop of Tame It from roots to ends.
– Take hair from the top and sides and twist it at the bottom of the crown.
– Secure it with bobby pins or accessory pin (pull, twist, pin).
– Finish with Beautiful Hold.
